The Urban Challenge Terms & Conditions
For School Organised Programs:
The contract for the program is made between the school and The Urban Challenge and specific Terms and Conditions apply, in particular to non-attendence. As you can appreciate, some bookings (e.g. accommodation, activities, etc) are made well in advance of the commencement of the program and these costs must be taken into account if not attending the program (even if notice is given before the start of the program). All enquiries regarding this need to be directed to the school.
General:
- For non-attendance and if you have agreed to the hire and or purchase of any equipment from The Urban Challenge, this is NON REFUNDABLE. Purchase equipment will be sent (free of postage charge) to the nominated address provided, after the program.
- Additional gear can be purchased via the Urban Challenge Store or cancelled via email (to

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) up until 2 business days prior to the commencement of the program. - To guarantee the safety of all participants, please ensure the accuracy of the details provided. Any medical conditions or requirements need to be clearly advised.
- Your personal details are secure and will only be used by our staff. Your details will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy - please contact us if you require a copy.
- Participants are responsible for their own belongings while on the program.
- Participants are required to obey instructions from our staff and cooperate with activities (this includes the normal medical, social and behavioural aspects of a participant's experience).
Urban Challenge Store:
- For non-attendance and if you have agreed to purchase any equipment from The Urban Challenge, this is NON REFUNDABLE. Purchase equipment will be sent (free of postage charge) to the nominated address provided after the program.
- If an item is recevied as an incorrect size, we will exchange this at our Waitara office, at the end of the program or post out to you at your expense. Items must be returned in an unused condition.
- All other returns, refunds and replacements are covered under the ACCC guidelines.

The Urban Challenge provides the ultimate real-world experience to over 3000 school students per year.
Small teams, each with a teacher and an Urban Challenge guide, embark on a fast-paced unfolding adventure through Sydney and its’ surrounds. Teams must complete urban-flavoured activities, clue-chases, meal preparation, go-discover and more! along the way.
Each team member has a functional role (photographer, navigator, etc) and must work together to take actual responsibility for their own money, transport, timings, meals, etc.
Our Challenge is run via the internet and teams upload blogs and photos, check-in for their next day’s itinerary and activities. There is also a program page so that those at home can follow along too.
On multiple day Challenges teams will stay in youth hostels and city accommodations overnight.

The Program Itself
Unique, exciting and innovative. Schools have the opportunity to tailor their own program dependent on the schools wants and outcomes. We offer an array of day modules that can take teams from the city to Manly and Bondi, Collaroy and Sydney Olympic Park and beyond. There is also the choice of urban-flavoured activities to include.

Teamwork and the Students
Our Challenge is student-focussed. A program specifically designed to immerse your students in the urban landscape of which they will soon be a part. The Challenge aims to, and succeeds in, fostering independence, teamwork and social-awareness - all attributes crucial to an adolescent’s preparation for adulthood.

Nuts and Bolts
Each team is issued with all equipment at the start - Opal cards for the unlimited use of trains, ferries and buses; ID lanyards, team iPad and smart phone, camera, monies, maps, Apps, etc. Safety is at the forefront of our programs. We hold a comprehensive Safety Management Plan, use accredited providers, and have working procedures and contingencies.
